In January 2024, RES welcomed Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s decision to approve its application to increase the turbine rotor size at the consented Dunbeg South Wind Farm, in what is a crucial step towards a cleaner and more affordable energy future. The scheme was given the go-ahead after the Council’s planning committee voted to approve the application, in line with the case officer’s recommendation.

Increasing the turbine rotor size will enable us to take advantage of the latest turbine technology and to optimise the amount of green, low cost generation the wind farm would be capable of producing. The consented tip height of 149.9 metres will be retained and the new application does not involve any other amendments to the already consented scheme, turbine locations and all other ancillary works would be located as per the original planning consent.
